Sustainable Production

  • Sustainability

The concept of sustainable development reflects a growing awareness about the contradiction that can occur between developments, primarily understood as economic growth and improved material standards of living, and the ecological and social conditions so that development can last over time. This awareness of the human, natural and environmental costs of development and progress has come to change the attitude of disregard or justification in relation to environmental damage that has prevailed for a long time. The idea of a economic growth without limits, for the sake of which all else could be sacrificed, came to be replaced by an awareness of limits and of the importance of creating the conditions which make possible a well-being for the present generations which is not at the price of the deterioration of living conditions for the future of humanity.

The goal of sustainable development is to define viable projects and reconcile the economic, social and environmental human activities, three pillars to be taken into account by both companies and individuals:

    • Economic sustainability – which occurs when development, which moves towards social and environmental sustainability, is financially feasible and profitable.
    • Social sustainability: based on the maintenance of social cohesion and its ability to work in pursuit of common goals. In case of a company, it means taking into account the social consequences of the activity of the company at all levels: workers (working conditions, wage levels, etc..), Suppliers, customers, local communities and society in general.
    • Environmental sustainability: compatibility between the activity in question and biodiversity and ecosystem conservation, preventing degradation of source and sink functions. Includes an analysis of the impacts of the activity in question in terms of flows, harnessing of difficult or slowly renewable resources, and in terms of waste generation and emissions. This last pillar is necessary to provide stability of the other two pillars.

The limits of natural resources suggest three basic rules in relation to sustainable development pace and scale.

    • Renewable resource should be used no faster than that of its generation.
    • Contaminants which must be produced faster than it can be recycled, neutralized or absorbed by the environment.
    • Any non-renewable resource should be exploited more rapidly than is necessary to substitute a renewable resource used in a sustainable manner.

Following business corporation instructions of the group of companies to which it belongs to, ECOVENTIA has developed its pre-stressed concrete wind towers, fully sustainable and green from the start of the manufacturing process until the end of its useful life.

Our concrete wind towers have a large number of advantages over other steel or concrete towers, both economic and engineering, and greater sustainability in all our manufacturing processes.

First of all, the execution of concrete shafts with respect to steel means a major advancement of sustainability. The energy required to produce a concrete tower is more than 3 times less than that required for a steel one characterized by the same features. Likewise, during the manufacturing process is being emitted only one third of CO2 that is emitted in case of a steel tower.

These benefits also apply to a much wider range of values, such as noise: our concrete wind tower significantly reduces noise pollution which is a clear advantage of the concrete shafts with respect to current ones made of steel. This advantage not only has environmental implications, but also in efficiency. In many cases, the speed of rotation of the turbines is limited by noise criteria, reducing the capacity of energy production.

It is noteworthy to mention that ECOVENTIA, as a part of the PACADAR Group, meets the highest standards in possession of quality certificates, so we can ensure that our products are designed to fulfill the most respected environmental standards.

ECOVENTIA's commitment to sustainability requires that we go beyond our own operations and seek to reduce company´s total ecological footprint.

After decades of action, we continue to make progress on managing the environmental impacts of our own operations. In most areas, our impacts extend far beyond our own operations.

On the ‘upstream side,’ in our supply chain, we use our Business Partner Code to ensure that our suppliers meet our expectations on environmental and social impacts.

Finally, we work in partnership with our clients and engage with them to achieve improvement in our wider environmental footprint, for example water use. Our research and product development teams also aim to reduce the environmental impacts of our products throughout their useful life and constant improvement of procedures.

ECOVENTIA has developed cutting- edge- technology to offer its precast, pre-stressed concrete wind tower, backed by PACADAR Group. The latter is one of largest independent suppliers of precast concrete products to the construction industry, which covers each and every aspect of precast concrete products, from design and manufacturing, through to installation on site. And counts with over 60 years of experience in the field.

ECOVENTIA´s precast pre-stressed concrete wind tower has followed a careful design process. The main goal was to provide an innovative, competitive and full of advantages over steel and concrete towers product.

Currently, ECOVENTIA has a large number of factories located at strategic points around the country, which allows us to provide our products without any problem to the whole Iberian Peninsula, neighboring countries and North Africa. However, once our presence consolidated in these markets, a new concept is developed by ECOVENTIA, which allows the company to export to other countries in the world its immeasurable and priceless know-how through the implementation of manufacturing facilities near location of the construction site - a completely self-contained precast concrete wind tower production facility that can be instantly located anywhere you want it, even in remote areas with little or no infrastructure.

ECOVENTIA is able to set up a manufacturing plant anywhere in the world in record time while at the same time maintaining the same level of productivity, efficiency and guarantee.

ECOVENTIA is a wholly owned subsidiary of PACADAR, European market leader for precast concrete. PACADAR GROUP activities in wind power market are concentrated in ECOVENTIA.

Following business corporation instructions of the group of companies to which it belongs to, ECOVENTIA has developed its pre-stressed concrete wind towers, fully sustainable and green from the start of the manufacturing process until the end of its useful life.
